We believe basketball is about more than winning. Basketball should be played beautifully. Beautiful basketball means ball movement, player movement, and, most of all, creativity. Rather than rely heavily on set plays and position-specific roles, we focus on developing high-IQ athletes capable of responding quickly to a variety of situations without fear of making mistakes.
We measure success by player development, not by the scoreboard. At younger ages, that means choosing strategies on offense and defense that challenge our players to grow rather than maximizing wins in the short-term.

We play a 5-out style without set positions
Every player should have ample opportunity to handle the ball
We emphasize cutting and screening away from the ball instead of isolation
We play at a fast tempo and encourage attacking in transition, reading the floor and making quick decisions
We don't want to sit back in the paint, even if that works well at a young age
We want to pressure the ballhandler with communication, trapping and switching to force turnovers and create transition opportunities
Our opponents will be relieved when the buzzer sounds because of the energy and intensity we bring every possession
Parents are, of course, expected to follow all league conduct policies and set a good example for their kids. Additionally, we push our parents to be partners on the journey. Because we prize your time and try not to overschedule practices, parents need to help their player with four key concepts at home:
Setting incremental, concrete goals for self-improvement along with Coach Darnell
Finding the necessary drills to accomplish that improvement through our site and curriculum
Having a daily practice plan to spend at least 15 minutes per day getting better in-season
Tracking progress through our Husky Challenge Board and the Trail to Excellence
Remember, to help our kids excel, we don't want them checking the sidelines in the moment or hesitating because they're nervous about pleasing you. Parent cheering should focus on yelling after the play and celebrating things within our control: hustle and trying new things on the development path. Instead of shouting SHOOT mid-play, try GREAT JOB TRYING YOUR MOVE after the play.
